Notice: Protection of Social Security Numbers
"We" refers to the family of companies and affiliates wholly-owned by The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. ("McGraw-Hill").
We collect a variety of information about individuals, including but not limited to our customers, employees, vendors and others. In certain cases, that information includes individuals' Social Security numbers. We use records of Social Security numbers for specific limited purposes, most often to comply with federal and state laws such as tax laws.
McGraw-Hill is committed to
(i) to complying with all laws restricting the use and disclosure of Social Security numbers,
(ii) protecting the confidentiality of Social Security numbers,
(iii) prohibiting the unlawful disclosure of Social Security numbers, and
(iv) limiting access to Social Security numbers to our employees and other authorized persons or entities as described below.
To safeguard Social Security numbers, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that are designed to comply with applicable legal standards. Our employees are prohibited from disclosing Social Security numbers for unauthorized purposes.
We may share Social Security numbers as follows:
(i) among our affiliated companies or with nonaffiliated parties for administrative purposes, such as to process transactions, manage human resource processes, verify identities, and service accounts;
(ii) in conjunction with the sale or similar transfer of a business unit;
(iii) as required or permitted by law, including in connection with litigation; and
(iv) in connection with providing standard educational assessment results to authorized entities.
In all instances where we disclose Social Security numbers to unaffiliated parties, we will use all reasonable efforts to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the information.
We do not share Social Security numbers for marketing purposes with either our affiliates or others.
